Today on Adafruit’s “Wearable Wednesdays” we learn how to make the LED Ampli-Tie with Flora. Using FLORA, the Electret Microphone Amplifier, Flora NeoPixels, and conductive thread, you can stand out in your next interview or stockholders meeting wearing a tie that lights up in reaction to sound.

Add the Arduino powered laces and Kayne, Weezy and Ricseasons  come to mind as  a few people we can see sporting these.

Yeah – it’s a little hard to see, but trust us wearables are so in!

Check out the video for the MJ Tribute at the 2010 BET Music Awards.  It was pretty awesome but got AWESOMER when the MJ dancers came out  in what looks  like either LED Lights or EL Rope accented outfits.  Their moves were punctuated by coordinated moving lights jumping from pant leg, to hat to tie.

It was – you guessed it-awesome.

What’s a wearable upgrade?  It’s taking any clothing or accessory and adding some element of wearable technology to the design.  Still not clear? Take Rhianna’s Alexandre Vauthier jacket and dress illuminated and developed by innovative fashion designer  Mortiz Waldemeyer .

The couture dress uses a combination of compressed gas systems  and video capable LED circuits to light up the stage (and her dress) with a moving light sequence . 

Just a week after Katy Perry’s CuteCircuit gown, Rhianna may have upped the ante.
